Last month we told you about some exciting changes to Midland’s 2012 lineup of FRS/GMRS two way radios. We now have more details and we’re even more excited to pass them along to you. Early this year, Midland promised technical and cosmetic upgrades to its line of consumer radios, including new models. Midland has made many enhancements and performance improvements to its entire line of two way radios during the last few years, and they are taking it all to the next level in 2012.
Feature Upgrades
Among new products to be introduced this year is the new GXT2000 Series. According to Midland, the new GXT2000 and GXT2050 radios will each offer a large, easy to read LCD display. This battery can charge from 0-90% in about an hour and trickle charge the final 10% in less than another. Traveling with an infant is no easy task. There are many considerations to keep in mind. All the baby paraphernalia never mind all the necessary items for you. By keeping a checklist of all necessary travel items your stress level can be greatly reduced. The item on the top of your list should be passports. You should make sure your infant passport is handy as well as your own passport with all necessary changes such as a passport name change.
Passports
Passports allow for international travel. They are the permission slip to the world; they allow you entry into a foreign country and entry back into your country of origin. Adults need passports, children used to be able to be on their parents passports; this is no longer the case. Due to changes in child trafficking laws and safety each child is required to have their own passport. Both parents must be made aware of the passport application. This is why it’s so important to make sure all passports for your family are in order including children and infants. If you need a pass port name change, get that handled long before you travel.
Travel
Traveling is very stressful for any individual, but once a baby is thrown into the mix it can be even more hectic. By packing all the necessary items beforehand stress can greatly be reduced. Be sure that your carry on contains all the items needed to travel with a baby. This includes diapers, wipes, extra clothes, and any toys that will occupy the infants time. Often parents are unsure of what the guidelines are regarding infant food for travel. Bottles and formula are allowed, they will be subjected to a litmus test though. Strollers will also be subjected to the X-ray machine.
Seating
Although infants and children under the age of two are allowed on their parents laps, it is much safer to get them their own seat. Be sure your car seat is FAA approved. When ascending and descending the best way to help your child cope with the air pressure change is to have them suck on something. This is the perfect time to give them a bottle or pacifier.
Stressful Travel
No one wants a crying screaming baby on the plane; however this cannot be helped in some instances. If your infant does become upset it’s important to remain calm. This way they don’t pick up on your stress and become even more stressed themselves. Do your best to soothe them with a rocking motion or their bottle or pacifier. Flight attendants in most cases will help in any way they can.
