T in the Park is a major music festival which was 1st launched back in 1994 and is held annually in Scotland. The event is sponsored by Tennents lager. Originally held at Strathclyde Park, it has considering that been held at a disused airfield in Balado, Kinross-shire, Scotland.
Acts appearing at the events debut in 1994 included Primal Scream, Oasis, Crash Test Dummies, Blur, The Manic Street Preachers, Rage Against the Machine and Cypress Hill. The following year the festival featured Kylie Minogue, The Prodigy, Alanis Morissette, Black Grape and Supergrass playing in blazing sunshine and high temperatures.
In 1996, Radiohead, Pulp and No Doubt played, and in 1997 the event moved to its present internet site of Balado, Kinross-shire, when neighborhood developers wanted to use Strathclyde Park for other purposes.Because moving, the festival has expanded in size with a mix of bands such as Travis, Texas, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Garbage, Moby, Iggy Pop, Stereophonics, REM, The Proclaimers, The Darkness, Idlewild, Muse, The Polyphonic Spree, The Chemical Brothers and Glasvegas.
T in the Park was originally a two-day festival but because 2007 has taken spot over three days, and introduced in 2008 was the opportunity to upgrade a weekend camping ticket to enable camping access on the Thursday – the day ahead of any musicians performed. The festival is promoted by Huge Day Out.
As effectively as the major seven stages of music, there are big camping locations to cater for the majority of festival-goers who remain for the duration of the event. There are also numerous concession stalls and shops supplied, as well as other attractions, such as a large funfair, complete with a Massive Wheel!
In recent years, the festival has shared much of its lineup with Oxegen, a festival that takes location on the very same weekend in County Kildare, Ireland. Acts usually play T in the Park one day and Oxegen the subsequent, or vice versa.
This year, title sponsors Tennents lager will be running ‘Be Chilled’ an initiative whereby visitors can lighten their journey to the festival by ordering their cans of Tennent’s Lager on the internet in advance of the event. They will then uncover their order chilled and ready for collection at their own convenience upon arrival at the campsite and throughout the duration of their stay.
